Two posts in a row of no recipes? Don’t be fooled, I’m doing lots in the kitchen, as I’m sure most of you are!
This is my first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian! My also-veg sister and I are making everything but the meaty essentials, and as you can imagine, I’m in charge of all of the baking. As usual, I’m making things I’ve never made before: dinner rolls, pumpkin cream pie, and a caramel apple cranberry tart. None of them will be finished until tomorrow though, so I’ll be sharing them later!
As if anyone needs any more ideas the day before T-Day when the last place you want to be is the grocery store, here’s a round-up of my pumpkin binge:
Cinnamon Swirl Pumpkin Yeast Bread – YUM.
Pumpkin Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies – Seriously addictive.
Pumpkin, Sage, and Brown Butter Muffins – Moist and sweevory!
Pumpkin French Toast – Quick and delicious!
And for your stovetop:
Spicy Pumpkin Black Bean Chili – Not everything pumpkin is bad for you.
Thai Red Curry Squash Soup – Fall gets exotic!
(There are still a few more pumpkin things that I wanted to make and still might…)
What are you guys making?
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! I am so thankful for all of your support and hope you have a great holiday. See you on the other side of the turkey, tofurkey, or whatever stuffs your belly! :)

Being a vegetarian on Thanksgiving isn’t as hard as people think (I was one for about six Thanksgivings). Most traditional dishes, aside from the turkey, can be made vegetarian very easily, and at most Thanksgiving dinners, there are so many dishes to sample that you can eat plenty without touching the non-vegetarian dishes. Can’t wait to hear about the dishes you make for your vegetarian selves!
I am making a simple sauteed zucchini, and a not-as-simple chocoalte layer cake with cookie-dough buttercream frosting (success at Swiss meringue buttercream is MINE) and bittersweet ganache garnishes.

Go go gadget Pumpkin Cream Pie! I totally made Joy’s recipe last night and I am telling you – DELICIOUS. I can’t wait to try it out with the final touch of maple whipped cream. Mm, I can feel the cavities already…
Have a great Thanksgiving, and good luck with your new vegetarian-ness!

Three cheers for vegetarian Thanksgiving! I don’t even notice the absence of turkey with all the other good fixins’ to eat. I’ll be excited to see what recipes you made! I’m bringing the stuffing, cranberries, and chocolate-pecan pie to our family feast tomorrow.
PS–I love that you’ve made quilts! I’m not alone in my woman-of-the-past hobbies :)
Happy Thanksgiving!

Victoria – Oh yes, I definitely did not starve this Thanksgiving! That cake sounds ridiculous! Will look out for your post about it. :)
Mary – Pumpkin cream pie is awesome! I actually didn’t make Joy’s recipe, but did use her whipped cream. I’m sold for life.
Kylie – I don’t think anyone would have noticed an absence of anything on my plate. :) btw, a lot of my friends seem to have old lady hobbies!
Jill – I wonder what would happen if you tried to make it with tortillas? haha
girl japan – Glad to hear you still celebrate it there! I spent my last b-day in NZ and it was like a 2 day event because of the time difference.
foodies and bbkd – Thanks! :)
Jill – aww! I am thankful that you can eat them. ;) I need to buy some ice cream for that caramel because I ran out of tart. :P
