The East Austin Studio Tour is happening! Well, it was this weekend, but continues next weekend. If you’re in Austin, you should definitely check it out. It’s basically an open house studio and exhibition crawl to showcase local artists’ work. (There are also various events.) With 160 stops, the map can be pretty overwhelming, but many of the locations have a handful of artists, so you can see a lot at one stop.

Most of the artists were around to answer questions at the places I visited, though some were also working. It looked like pretty much everything could be purchased, too. If you’re not in the market for a big piece, some artists are selling smaller prints and cards, as well as things like jewelry and pottery. Good place to do some holiday shopping while supporting the locals, right?

In case you need edible incentives, I kept seeing free KIND bars around, and many of the studios offered snacks and beverages (booze, even). Get out there early, though. There were a ton of people at EAST this weekend! It seemed like more than last year, but I didn’t go until the end of the last day then.

A crowd walked in a minute later, I swear.

This is all free and it’s fall in Texas, so really, what’s your excuse not to go?
